Overview
A dependable full-size passenger van
The 2007 Chevrolet Express Passenger Van is a full-size passenger van manufactured by General Motors. It is available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions.

The Express Passenger Van is available in Regular and Extended wheelbase models. The Passenger Van 1500, 1500 AWD, and 3500 are Regular wheelbase models, while 3500 EXT is the Extended wheelbase model. All the four models are available in LS and LT trim levels.

All trims of the Passenger Van come with a new vehicle limited warranty for three years or 36,000 miles and a powertrain warranty for five years and 100,000 miles.

For 2007, an optional E85 FlexFuel Vortec 5.3L V8 engine has been introduced for the Passenger Van 1500 models.

The Express Passenger Van competes with the likes of Ford E-Series, Dodge Ram Van, and Dodge Sprinter.

Engine and Performance
Merger of performance and durability
The Chevrolet Express Passenger Van 1500 models derive power from a standard Vortec 5.3-liter V8 engine, which delivers 295 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 335 lb-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. The 1500 models are also available with the option of a Vortec FlexFuel E85 5.3L V8 engine, which gives the same output as the Vortec 5.3-liter V8.

The 3500 models are powered by a standard Vortec 6.0-liter V8 engine, which generates 300 hp @ 4,400 rpm and 360 lb-ft. @ 4,000 rpm.

All models of the Passenger Van are linked to a standard Hydra-Matic 4-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission with overdrive.

Walk-around
Looks and feels BIG
The Passenger Van looks sophisticated and impressive with its long body and smooth, clean lines. The Regular Wheelbase models of the Express Passenger Van measure 224.1 inches in length and 135.0 inches in wheelbase, while the Extended Wheelbase models measure 244.1 inches in length and ride on a wheelbase of 155.0 inches.

Standard bumpers with front and rear step pads, two-sided galvanized-steel body panels, and Daytime Running Lamps with Automatic Exterior Lamp Control give a sophisticated look to all trims of the Passenger Van. The front fascia of the 1500 trims looks distinct with a front air dam.

All trims of the Passenger Van have standard dual rear door panels and 60/40 swing-out door on the passenger-side. The Regular Wheelbase models are available with the option of 60/40 swing-out doors on the driver-side. A sliding door on the passenger-side is optional on all trims.

All Passenger Vans feature standard black, manual-folding mirrors. However, the option of manual folding, power-adjustable, heated, black mirrors is also available.

The LS trims wear standard 16-inch styled-steel wheels, while the LT trims feature standard 16-inch styled-steel wheels with chrome center caps, which are optional on LS trims.

The 1500 models are available with optional 16-inch cast-aluminum wheels with steel spare. All trims are offered with the option of 16-inch chrome styled-steel wheels.

The 1500 models roll on standard P245/75R-16 all-season Blackwall, steel-belted radial tires. However, the 1500 models are also available with the option of P245/75R-16 all-season, white outline-lettered tires. The 2500 and 3500 models ride on standard LT245/75R-16E all-season Blackwall tires.

Comfort, Controls & Convenience
More comfortable and accommodating than any other passenger van
The 1500 models can seat up to eight passengers, while the 3500 and 3500 EXT models can seat up to 12 passengers. The 3500 Extended Wheelbase models come with the option of 15-passenger seating. The 3500 Regular Wheelbase models are also offered with the option of eight-passenger seating.

The LS trims come standard with vinyl-trimmed, front reclining bucket seats, while the LT models feature standard custom cloth-trimmed, front reclining bucket seats, which are optional on the LS trims.

All trims come standard with manual air-conditioning in the front, while the LT models offer the pleasure of rear air-conditioning as well, which is optional on LS trim levels.

An auxiliary rear heater is also standard on the LT trim levels and optional on LS.

All trims feature a standard four-spoke, black steering wheel. However, the LT trims are offered with the option of a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Passenger Van features analog instrumentation, including an indicator each for fuel level, oil pressure, odometer, speedometer, temperature gauge, trip odometer, voltmeter, and oil-life monitor.

All Passenger Vans feature standard manual day/night rear-view mirrors, though the LT trims are offered with optional auto-dimming rear-view mirrors, with outside temperature and compass.

Swing-out, rear-windows and side-cargo doors are standard on all trims of the Express Passenger Van. Solar-ray light-tinted glass is standard on all trims, though they are also available with the option of solar-ray, deep-tinted glass on side and rear windows.

All trims of the Express Passenger Van come standard with a defogger on the front side windows, and are also available with the option of an electric defogger on the rear window. All trims feature standard cup-holders and two 12-volt auxiliary power outlets.

For entertainment, the Passenger Van comes standard with an AM/FM stereo. However, all trims are available with ample entertainment options. These options include an AM/FM stereo with CD player, which includes auto tone control, automatic volume, random select, and TheftLock; and an AM/FM stereo with in-dash six-disc CD changer, including auto tone control, automatic volume, random select, and TheftLock.

All trims are available with optional heavy-duty trailering equipment, which includes weight-distributing trailering hitch platform and seven-lead wiring harness.

The Express Passenger Van LT models come standard with the Convenience Package, which includes power door locks, windows, tilt-wheel steering column, and cruise control. This package is optional on the LS trims.

Driving Impressions
Firm and responsive
The Express Passenger Van comes standard with the RWD system. The regular wheelbase 1500 models are available with the option of AWD. Even though the RWD offers a pretty good ride and satisfactory traction, the AWD scores over it in terms of traction and handling.

The Vortec 5.3L V8 and Vortec 6.0L V8 engines produce 295 hp and 300 hp respectively. Since there is not much difference in the power generated, both the engines offer almost equally decent acceleration.

The Passenger Van is driven by a crisp power steering, which offers precise, prompt responses. It neither feels tight nor light, just perfect for driving in the city and on highways.

Four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes make the Passenger Vans capable of stopping just as soon as the brake pedal is pushed. These brakes also reduce the Passenger Van’s stopping distance.

All trims of the Passenger Van ride on independent front suspension, which includes coil springs and stabilizer bars. With this suspension, the Passenger Van offers a firm, smooth ride.

Automatic locking rear differential is optional on all trims. StabiliTrak, an electronic stability control system, is standard on the 3500 models.

Safety
Prides itself on Five-star safety
The Passenger Van has been awarded a five-star rating for the driver and front passenger seating positions in frontal crash tests.

It comes with a bevy of modern safety features to protect its occupants. It boasts of a steel safety cage, which surrounds the entire passenger compartment. It includes reinforcements in the floor, body sills and roof pillars, plus steel side-door beams. In addition, energy-absorbing crush zones in the front and rear structures are designed to help absorb energy in a controlled manner in the event of a collision, so as to maintain the integrity of the passenger compartment.

The Passenger Van also comes with safety belts, airbags, a PASSlock theft-deterrent system, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), and a LATCH (Lower Anchors and Top tethers for Children) system for child safety seats. ABS helps in maintaining steering control by preventing wheel lockup, even during hard braking maneuvers.

The 3500 models come standard with StabiliTrak, which helps improve stability, particularly on slick surfaces and during emergency maneuvers. StabiliTrak automatically intervenes when it senses wheel slippage, understeer, or oversteer by applying brake pressure and, if necessary, adjusting engine torque to help the driver get the vehicle back on track.

The LT models come standard with Remote Keyless Entry.
